15 Quotes To Increase Your Happiness from Elder Uchtdorf

This past September I had an opportunity to visit my mission in New England, while I was there I attended Stake Conference where we had  Elder Anthony D. Perkins of the quorum on the 70 address us. Elder Perkins talked about happiness, and how we need to find joy in living the Gospel. He then told us that often in his meetings in Salt Lake City, Elder Uchtdorf often expresses concern about the Saints and their happiness. Elder Perkins even said, “If you are not happy living the Gospel, you are not doing it right”. Once I got home I started to study the addresses of Elder Uchtdorf, looking for the theme of “happiness.” Here are 15 quotes that I’ve fallen in love with during my studies!

“We shouldn’t wait to be happy until we reach some future point, only to discover that happiness was already available—all the time! Life is not meant to be appreciated only in retrospect. “This is the day which the Lord hath made … ,” the Psalmist wrote. “Rejoice and be glad in it.””

“There is nothing wrong with righteous yearnings—we hope and seek after things that are “virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy.” The problem comes when we put our happiness on hold as we wait for some future event—our golden ticket—to appear.”
