As I’ve reflected on the role of Mothers I have been listening/reading to General Conference talks. Let me say, it is amazing to listen to the Brethren as they talk about, and reverence, all women. Whether you have had children, or are single, these quotes apply to all daughters of God. As God sees us as we will be, therefore there is no such thing as a “perspective mother,” only Mothers yet to be realized on earth.
Here are 30 quotes to put the role and value of Mothers and all women in perspective.

~Russell M. Nelson
“Sisters, I don’t want to overpraise you as we sometimes do in Mother’s Day talks that make you cringe. You don’t have to be perfect; I don’t claim that you are (with one possible exception who is sitting nearby at the moment). What I mean to say is that whether you are single or married, whether you have borne children or not, whether you are old, young, or in between, your moral authority is vital, and perhaps we have begun to take it and you for granted.”
~D. Todd Christofferson

~Ezra Taft Benson
“Look to your mother…when it comes to matters of the heart and the things of the Lord, she has a wealth of knowledge. As you approach the time for marriage and young motherhood, she will be your greatest source of wisdom. No other person on earth loves you in the same way or is willing to sacrifice as much to encourage you and help you find happiness—in this life and forever.”
~M. Russell Ballard

~Jeffrey R. Holland.
“Women who make a house a home make a far greater contribution to society than those who command large armies or stand at the head of impressive corporations. Who can put a price tag on the influence a mother has on her children, a grandmother on her posterity, or aunts and sisters on their extended family?”
~Gordon B. Hinkley

~D. Todd Christofferson
“As mothers in Israel, you are your daughters’ first line of defense against the wiles of the world.”

“There are many women in the Relief Society who are not married. Death, divorce, and indeed lack of opportunity to marry have in many instances made it necessary for a woman to stand alone. In reality, she need not stand alone, for a loving Heavenly Father will be by her side to give direction to her life and provide peace and assurance in those quiet moments where loneliness is found and where compassion is needed.”
~Thomas S. Monson
“Love your mother, my young sisters. Respect her. Listen to her. Trust her. She has your best interests at heart. She cares about your eternal safety and happiness. So be kind to her. Be patient with her imperfections, for she has them. We all do.”
~M. Russell Ballard

~Jeffrey R. Holland
“mothers know intuitively, instinctively that [motherhood] is a sacred trust of the highest order.”
~Jeffrey R. Holland
“To all mothers in every circumstance, including those who struggle—and all will—I say, ‘Be peaceful. Believe in God and yourself. You are doing better than you think you are. In fact, you are saviors on Mount Zion, and like the Master you follow, your love ‘never faileth.’”
~Jeffrey R. Holland

~James E. Faust

“Sisters, I testify that when you stand in front of your heavenly parents in those royal courts on high and you look into Her eyes and behold Her countenance, any question you ever had about the role of women in the kingdom will evaporate into the rich celestial air, because at that moment you will see standing directly in front of you, your divine nature and destiny.”
